Galchenyuk Departs NHL After Nine Seasons

Alexander Galchenyuk, the American-Belarusian professional ice hockey center, has signed a contract with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The 29-year-old Galchenyuk most recently played for the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL.

Galchenyuk was the third overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He has played for the Canadiens, Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pittsburgh Penguins during his NHL career.

In 622 career NHL games, Galchenyuk has recorded 160 goals and 218 assists for a total of 378 points. He has also represented the United States at the international level, winning a silver medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships.

Galchenyuk's departure from the NHL is a significant loss for the league. He is a skilled offensive player who has the ability to make plays and score goals. He will be a valuable addition to SKA St. Petersburg, who are one of the top teams in the KHL.
